When Toby first came to the clinic on October 18, 2024, his owners were concerned about changes in his comfort and mobility at home.
About a month earlier, on September 19, Toby had suddenly become reluctant to jump on and off the couch. He was started on a five-day course of meloxicam, and his owners noticed an improvement within a day. After completing the medication, Toby was doing well for several days before his discomfort returned. The day before his appointment, he even yelped when being picked up.
During his visit, several options were discussed, including acupuncture and chiropractic care. There was also another important consideration: Toby really did not enjoy coming to the clinic. His owners reported that he was consistently fearful during visits and would shake throughout his appointments.
With minimizing stress during veterinary visits in mind, Toby’s owners elected to try Regenaflex-K9 and planned to return for a one-month recheck.
One Month Later
At Toby’s one-month recheck, his owners reported that he was doing very well at home.
They no longer noticed him yelping when he was picked up, and he was once again comfortably jumping on and off the couch. His owners also reported that they had not needed to give him any additional pain medication.
From there, Toby continued with maintenance Regenaflex-K9 therapy every six months.
He received his fourth dose in July, and his owners continue to report that he is doing well.
Interestingly, they have noticed a pattern over time. As Toby gets closer to his next scheduled appointment, they begin to notice some hesitation when he jumps on and off the couch. According to his owners, these signs have been much milder than what they observed when he first presented.
Following his maintenance dose, they report that those signs resolve.
A Patient Who Prefers Fewer Trips to the Clinic
Toby’s story is a great example of why every patient’s circumstances and their owners’ observations matter when considering veterinary care.
For Toby, minimizing the stress associated with frequent veterinary visits was an important part of the treatment discussion. His owners have also been able to recognize subtle changes in his behavior at home and communicate those observations with his veterinary team.
Now, more than a year and a half after his initial visit, Toby continues to receive maintenance Regenaflex-K9 approximately every six months.
And perhaps most importantly from Toby’s perspective?
He gets to spend a lot more time doing what he actually enjoys—and a lot less time at the veterinary clinic.
